THE DEPARTMENT OF Health-Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD), Zamboanga Peninsula led the 3-day training on Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) held at Hotel Guillermo last November 9-11, here. Regional Health Emergency Management Staff (RHEMS)
A total of 120 participants for the four batches were invited to join the said training where 30 participants were assigned in each batch.
It may be recalled that BHERT was formed during the SARS scare a few years back.
Redoble said the trainings for this year were conducted in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur, and the training for Zamboanga Sibugay is slated on the 3rd week this month of November.
Maxim Bermas, Regional Epedemiologist Surveillance Nurse said DOH ordered the reactivation of BHERT to tap BHERTs services in reporting prevalent diseases in their respective localities.
Redoble said the BHERT trainees can now save lives by providing first aid to anybody before the person will be taken in the hospital.
He then urged the chief executives in the barangays to support the program in order to conduct another series of trainings next year to train more BHERTs.
