THE REGIONAL Development Council (RDC) IX will conduct a Pre-Budget Review Forum in the region on February 23-24, 2010 at Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City. During its meeting on December 10, 2009, the RDC IX agreed that the said activity will be conducted at least

a month before the start of the budgeting cycle. This is to ensure that the priority programs and projects of the region are identified and agreed upon prior to the preparation of budget proposals by the Regional Line Agencies (RLAs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and presented to the RDC IX.

It is expected that the identified priority programs and projects will be strongly pursued for implementation by the RDC IX, RLAs, and Local Government Units (LGUs) including policymakers.  These programs and projects are deemed supportive of the region’s thrusts and directions based on the 2010-2016 Medium-Term Regional Development Plan. These include poverty alleviation, mitigation of the negative impacts of climate change, disaster risk management, gender concerns, promotion of Region IX champion products, among others.  The list of corresponding priority programs and projects will be presented by each agency during the forum.

All RDC IX Private Sector Representatives and LGUs will be invited to participate in the deliberation and prioritization of programs and projects of the agencies.  Some 63 participants composed of representatives from the private sector, RLAs, SUCs, and LGUs are expected to attend the forum.  The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) IX, as the Secretariat of the RDC IX coordinates and facilitates the conduct of the activity.
