REVENUE DISTRICT Officer Atty. Nazrullah B. Conding revealed that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 92 surpassed by 12% its target tax collection in the first five months of this year.
Conding said for 2010 they were given a quota of P405,154,000.00 for Pagadian City and Zamboanga del Sur. Because of the good flow in their tax collection, he is confident that they can reach their goal without any difficulty, although it depends largely on the cooperation of taxpayers in our locality, he added.
Conding also said that under his able leadership as the new Revenue District Officer (RDO), BIR-RDO 92 ranked 98th place in the collection of taxes among the 119 revenue district offices in the country. Last year, it ranked 112th because it failed to reach its goal and it also failed to reach the ‘top 50’ RDOs.
He stressed that the measures he instituted in surpassing their target goal in the first 5 months were as follows: 1) urging the employees of regional offices to remit their Withholding Tax Compensation; 2) implement both the ‘Oplan Kandado’ and ‘Project Iboto Mo’, where all the candidates in the May 10 polls are required to remit 5% expanded withholding tax based on their expenditures; 3) request Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) to remit their business tax in their office; and 4) cooperation of the local chief executives in the municipalities of the province.
It may be recalled that the regional offices customarily remit the taxes of their employees in Zamboanga City but when Pagadian City became the center of Regional Government in region IX, they were obliged to remit it in Pagadian.
At present, there are only about 16 of the 121 regional offices which remit taxes of their employees.
Conding appealed to the regional offices thru their respective regional directors to remit their taxes in Pagadian City, instead of remitting them to Zamboanga City.
He thanked PIA thru Regional Director Noemi B. Edaga for holding the forum and tapping the media to make the public aware of their activities especially, reminding the taxpayers to pay their taxes promptly because to him, taxes is the “life blood of the government.” – BROUGHT TO YOU BY PAGADIAN EXPRESS
