CITY MAYOR SAMUEL S. Co promises to solve passporting woes and facilitate fast issuance of new passports to residents with the establishment of the Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFA) consular office in Pagadian City. The DFA, with the NBI, NSO, PESO and the city government conduct mobile
passporting every June, timed on the week the city celebrates its foundation anniversary also called Araw ng Pagadian. Co said residents who need to avail of DFA's services won’t have to wait every June or go to Zamboanga City City to process their new passport once the DFA will permanently hold office in the regional center."Ang mokuha og bag-ong passport madali-dali na gyod ang ilang paglarga. Mamonitor pod nato unsa kadaghana ang manguha og passport," Co said. "Atoa lang unyang ipahibalo sa inyo puhon kung kanus-a ang DFA mobalhin dinhi, basta kay duol na, nangita pa lang sila og pwesto," he added.
First time passport applicants are required to submit their birth certificates in SECPA, or marriage certificate in SECPA or marriage contract by the local civil registrar and duly authenticated by the NSO, proper valid IDs, and at least copies of passport-sized photos with royal blue background and with collar attire.
For renewals, the old passport with photocopies of pages 1, 2 and last, and 3 copies of passport-sized photos with royal blue background and with collar attire are required. An application fee of P750 per applicant will be charged. Co said the DFA will be in Pagadian City before March.
