WARNING: Always remember that Cservice or an IRC Cop will NEVER EVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD NO MATTER WHAT!!

This happened in the channel 10/29/2003

Someone sent a Notice to the channel pretending to be from Cservice. He is a fake Cervice trying to fool ops and users in the channel to lure them to type a command to try to steal your password. He type this message in the channel

This is the notice he sent to the channel:

-Xinfo:#pagadian- CService database has been compromised, if u want to save your username use this command: /msg XInfo save [user] [password] . After u use this command u should recieve a notice that your username has been saved!

If you get fooled and do what he asked you to do then you are giving ur password to him, what he will do then to your account is use it to flood the channel use your access to MASS BAN the channel. Please be smart never never give your password to anyone, Cservice or IRC Cop will NEVER EVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. If you get fooled despite of this warning your account will be removed.

 

PASSWORD SECURITY AND POLICY:

You must not share your password to anyone. If you fail to do this then your access will be removed for 1 month, if you are caught sharing your password again then you will be removed permanently.

If you accidentally pasted your password in the channel, still try to succesfully login to @X (so the person that copied the password cannot login using your account because the Cservice doesnt allow 2 logins at the same time using the same USERNAME) , then QUICKLY change your password by going to the Cservice site  http://cservice.undernet.org/live/ login then click "New Password" located on the left side of the page. You need to to this before someone can steal it and use your access to MASS BAN the channel. If you fail to change your password ask the channel admins to remove your access temporarily to prevent other people from using your account.

the command to remove the access type: /msg x remuser #Pagadian TypeUserNameHere

If you are in the internet cafe, and If you are logged in to @X and you need to go to the rest room please logoff to @X by closing  Mirc. If you do not close Mirc the person next to you can simply press the UP ARROW key in the status window to copy your username and password and use your account to MASS BAN the channel. To avoid that please close Mirc. If the channel is massed ban because of not following the policy then your access will be removed permanently.

 


EMEGENCY X COMMANDS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY:

To unlock the channel if it got locked or if someone took over the channel by setting the channel mode +i
/msg x clearmode #Pagadian 

Get the info of the chatter trying to hack or take over the channel by typing or to verify if a chatter is from Cservice.
/msg x verify ChattersNickName 

To get the information of the chatters username
/msg x info ChattersUserName 


 

Important Notice to All #Pagadian Operators: 

 

REMINDER: Every time you login to @X please type the login command in STATUS Window in MIRC

 /msg x@channels.undernet.org login UserName PasswordHere (see  above)

 

 

 

 

DO NOT TYPE YOUR LOGIN COMMAND HERE. The reason for this is that if you type the login command in the channel window and you made a mistake then everyone will be able to steal your password, then that person who stole your password will login as you, then he will kick and ban everyone and he will lock the channel so no one can join. (see  above)

 

 

 

If you are using a PC in any Internet Cafe's please always Log Off and close MIRC Window completely before leaving  so the person that will use the PC next will not able to reverse your login history in the Status Window.

When you log on to @X you notice this message from X

 

-X- AUTHENTICATION SUCCESSFUL as JIGGLEZ
-X- Remember: Nobody from CService will ever ask you for your password, do NOT give out your password to anyone claiming to be CService.

 

That message only means one thing that #Cservice Ops no matter what the circumstance is, they will never ever  ask for your  password or username to any user in IRC.

Hackers or individuals try this technique called " Social Engineering " meaning they will pose as someone else and persuade or trick users into giving their password. Once they get your account info they will log on to @X using your account and username and lock (+i) the channel you belong to and ban all the users.

Avoid accepting files with these extensions:

.exe  .bat  .vb   .vbs   .xls   .ini  .ovl   .ocx   .vba, because it may be embedded with trojan or virus program. Common examples of programs that contain trojan embedded program are sheep.exe, Valentine.exe or Christmas.exe. If your computer gets infected with a trojan ( Back Door Program ) the

hacker or individual will be watching everything you type or looking at the website you are surfing.

 

 

EMERGENCY X COMMANDS 

 

warning:  Always type x commands in the Status Window in MIRC

 

If in case you got duped by someone and he got you password or if you mistype in the channel 
and other chatters saw your password you must change it quickly by doing:

 

/msg x@channels.undernet.org newpass TypeYourNewPasswordHere

 

 

To get the info of the chatter do:

/msg x verify ChattersNickName


/msg x info ChattersUserName

 

 

 

If someone lwas able to lock (+i or invite mode ) the channel and banned all the chatters, immediately ask the Admins to do /msg x clearmode #Pagadian and then get the username of the person that took over the channel.

 

 

 

To unlock the channel type: ( for channel Admins only )

/msg x clearmode #Pagadian

 

 

 

If one of the Operator's password get stolen immediately delete that username's account.

/msg x remuser TypeUserNameHere  ( for channel Admins only )

 

 


 

Lastly Please log all incidents in the channel!!!!!
