Pagadian: I Love This Place
To strangers to the land of Pagadian, our place is noisy and boring, plain and lame. But for all of us,
we see Pagadian as a home sweet home. Here are common, yet, interesting facts, why people
like, my friends, and me love Pagadian. Friendly People They say that hospitality is the
most favorable trait that Filipinos have. Good and friendly treatment among visitors and strangers are
what we best can offer. Bet to the strangers that they might not find themselves strangers, but at home here
at Pagadian City. Peace and Order Despite the terrifying attacks by those rebels and terrorists in some other parts of
Mindanao, Pagadian has managed to maintain the security of the people living in and
hasnt feared by the threats that might happen unexpectedly.
If you want to enjoy the night freely, there is no need for
you to doubt. Patrolling police officers are in the move, checking every street for some suspicious faced
looking freaks. And so, there would be no chance for those tambays to do one of their nightly activities
petty riots that sometimes awakens the slumbering neighbors in the block.
Clean and Green Early morning, you feel light and comfortable. There's
no smelly pile of garbage on the streets, no mess on the street sides. Thanks to the
street sweepers, or known as metro aides, by
fulfilling their duty in cleaning the streets so early in the morning at four. And to the garbage
collectors who always tend to their schedules to their respective assigned barangays in collecting
garbage.
Availability of Wet and Dry Goods In some cities, the high cost of goods, mainly the vegetables and
fishes, are the most common problem. The supply of vegetables and meat is easy to get and are
inexpensive, since the city is near the agriculture lands. Fishes and other iron-rich resources are not a
problem, for the city lies near shore. The supply of dry goods is also consumed easily and is replaced by
new stocks. Local Government Projects / Activities. The city government has lots of projects that the people
havent realized that it has been implemented. They are the Clean and Green Project enacted in all areas
of Pagadian City, the establishment of agricultural projects especially at Brgy. Lourdes and Lizon Valley,
many hydro electric plants still at Lizon Valley, the rehabilitation of mangrove at off-shore barangays, the
Bantay Dagat against any illegal dynamite fishing, and many other projects where approved for the cause
of the people living in Pagadian and all in Zamboanga del Sur. Sports / Leisure
Improvements have been made when it comes to sports. Local leagues organized are sponsored
and supported by the city government and other big offices. If yesterday, local players play against each
other, now, we are able to play against regional
competitors.
When it comes to leisure, celebrating Christmas (from November to February) is the most enjoyable. There is
the Giant Light Tree Competition. With a special package of live band concert at the Plaza Luz, people
from far places are enticed to come and enjoy the celebration for Christmas. Another one is the city
fiesta. There is the fluvial parade regatta, the street dance competition, water sports competition,
agro-trade fair, and the search for Mutya ng
Pagadian, are the main events for the said city fiesta. You can hang out at Ilang-ilang, Pinchik, and Hotel
Guillermos Kalikasan Music Lounge. Greenhouse and Springlands Tru-labs for some juicy and tasty
treats. Puso, chicken and pork barbecue, balbacua & bulalo are in store for you at night market.
Im sure youll really love going out especially when you hear the William Hung versions of Pagadian City singing the
karaoke! Religion Discrimination of religion is not on the
masters list of each resident here. For Protestants, they have their thanksgiving celebration during
December. For Catholics, they have their Holy Week, which reminds us the death and resurrection of our
Savior, Jesus Christ, which is celebrated in the entire globe. For our Moslem brothers with the
religion of Islam, they have this Puasa and Ramadan, which symbolizes fasting and cleansing of sins. For
the Seventh-day Adventists, they have this week of prayer, which is a bit similar with the Islam
religion.
